ABOUT DANIEL
Daniel Montelongo is an entrepreneur, marketing executive and LGBTQ+ consumer authority working at the intersection of business, culture, technology and community. Across more than 15 years in brand leadership, growth, digital strategy and communications, Montelongo has developed a particular expertise in how organizations understand, reach and build lasting relationships with LGBTQ+ consumers.
Before becoming an entrepreneur, he held roles at Apple, Dentsu and Ann Inc., with work spanning campaigns, e-commerce, creative production and partnerships involving brands including Macy’s, Nordstrom and Virgin America. In 2022, he founded The Gaygency, an LGBTQ+-owned marketing studio built around the idea that cultural fluency should be treated as a business discipline rather than a seasonal marketing tactic. The studio has since driven more than $17 million in client revenue and built a proprietary dataset of more than one million verified LGBTQ+ consumers.
That combination of cultural understanding, consumer data and operating experience has made Montelongo a distinctive voice on LGBTQ+ consumer behavior, brand loyalty, community trust and the changing relationship between queer audiences and corporate America.
In 2026, he put those ideas into practice with Gaydar, an LGBTQ+ connection and discovery platform designed around the realities of everyday queer life. Gaydar extends beyond social connection to help users identify LGBTQ+-focused and affirming resources — from doctors and healthcare providers to local businesses, restaurants, nightlife, services and community spaces. Rather than treating LGBTQ+ life as a single category or use case, the platform is being built as a broader ecosystem for navigating community.
Running both The Gaygency and Gaydar gives Montelongo a perspective few marketing leaders have: he advises organizations on how to earn LGBTQ+ trust while building a consumer product that has to earn that trust one interaction, recommendation and resource at a time. That experience informs his work as a founder, strategist and authority on LGBTQ+ consumers, community-centered business and what it means to build for queer audiences from inside the community itself.
ABOUT GAYDAR
Gaydar is an LGBTQ+ connection and discovery platform built to help people navigate more of queer life in one place. Beyond connecting users with one another, Gaydar helps people discover LGBTQ+-focused and affirming resources around them — from doctors, healthcare providers and other essential services to restaurants, bars, businesses and community spaces.
Built for the full spectrum of LGBTQ+ identities, Gaydar combines identity-aware discovery with an emphasis on trust, privacy and authenticity. Verified accounts, encrypted messaging and community-centered safety tools sit alongside location and resource discovery, creating an ecosystem designed around how LGBTQ+ people actually live, connect and find support. The platform is privately LGBTQ+-owned and operated, without outside shareholders dictating the experience.
That broader utility distinguishes Gaydar from platforms focused primarily on nightlife, business listings or crowdsourced LGBTQ+ locations. Gaydar is being built as a kind of digital life companion for the community: a place to find people, affirming healthcare, trusted services, local businesses and the spaces that help make a city or neighborhood feel navigable. At its core is a simple idea — LGBTQ+ people should not need five different platforms to figure out where they belong, who they can trust and what resources are available to them.
